Meet The Team: WordPress Designers

SHARE

It is time for another edition of “Meet the Team” featuring our lovely WordPress Designers! This team has been working non-stop bringing the Web Designers’ vision to life. You can find them in the lab at any time of day: morning, night, and well after the security guards are supposed to kick us out. We think all of their hard work has paid off. Take a look at the website and see if you agree!

WordPress Designers, you’re up…

WordPress Designers: An Interview

We are almost done! How do you feel?

Nelson:

Tessa: Amazing. The website is so beautiful, I could cry!

Laura: I’m not sure the realization the program is over has set in yet. Producing the website has been such an all-consuming project, I haven’t had time to fully process. I think there is a mixture of excitement and nostalgia. I’m looking forward to the next chapter, but I know I will miss my time in the program when it’s over.

Anne-Sophie: I feel it was all I could give so I’m glad it’s over, but at the same time I loved all I learnt and plan to learn some more on my own. I’m also excited to be able to show our hard work to friends, family and potential clients.

What surprised you most about the program?

Nelson: The amount of technical details I have never thought about until learning about them from this program.

Tessa: Coding! I have a serious passion for coding. Who knew?

Laura: I was surprised by how much I learned in such a short period of time. I was also surprised by how many wonderful people I met. I have made some genuine friends.

Anne-Sophie: I wasn’t really surprised. I would have probably been surprised by the amount of work had I not done the Journalism Program last year. But, because of last year, I was ready for this year.

What were your career goals when entering the program and have they since changed?

Nelson: My career goal at the beginning was to work as a designer in a digital agency but, after completing this program, I want to pursue a career in development and become a Full Stack Developer.

Tessa:  I’ve always been a writer. Now, I’d like to explore the possibility of pursuing a career in web development. So yes, they have changed drastically.

Laura: Honestly, I didn’t have a very specific career goal entering the program, other than finding a job I enjoyed. Now I know I am prepared for the industry and have a clearer idea of where my strengths are.

Anne-Sophie: I wanted to either freelance or launch a magazine. It hasn’t really changed but I do think that the coding aspect will have an even bigger part than I thought in my freelance work.

Do you have any advice for future publishing students?

Nelson: Whatever time and effort you put in, is what you’ll get out. STAY WOKE.

Tessa: Persevere. It’s a lot of work, but totally worth it in the end.

Laura: Organization is key. Make sure you manage your time efficiently and stay on top of deadlines. That being said, it’s still important to carve out some relaxation time when you can.

Anne-Sophie: Make the most of it, the instructors know so much so ask while you have them around.

Thank you, WordPress Designers! We appreciate all of your hard work.
