United Way 758×426

Join the United Way committee

As it has for more than two decades, Langara College continues to support the United Way of the Lower Mainland in its annual fundraising efforts. The United Way is the ‘backbone’ of an area-wide network of community agencies that help children, families, and seniors in need within our local community.

As the second largest funder of social services in Canada, next to the government, the United Way relies on employee donations to support more than 150 agencies who deliver over 300 services and programs throughout the Lower Mainland.

The United Way’s presence in the Lower Mainland includes programs administered by the Little Mountain Neighbourhood House Society, Aunt Leah’s Independent Lifeskills Society, and the Network of Inner City Community Services Society among many, many others.

At Langara, we are dedicated to strengthening ties within our community and supporting the United Way demonstrates our leadership in this regard. As we gear up to launch our 2017 United Way Campaign this month, we are looking for several volunteers from across the College to join a core group of dedicated colleagues to assist with the campaign.

I encourage you to get involved and join the campaign committee. This is a terrific opportunity to develop leadership skills and meet co-workers in other departments. It’s also a great way to give back, strengthen our community, and change lives for the better.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact the committee co-chairs Joanne Rajotte, jrajotte@langara.ca or Alan Brain, abrain@langara.ca.

Thank you for joining me in supporting the 2017 United Way campaign.

Lane Trotter
President
