Karen Hackett – Director, HR Systems, Services and Payroll

People Services is very pleased to announce that Karen will be joining Langara and the People Services team on November 14, 2017, on a permanent full-time basis.  Karen has more than 25 years’ experience in Human Resources along with specialized experience in the areas of benefits, employee services, HRIS and payroll management. She is also familiar with the post-secondary sector as her most recently held position was that of Manager of HRIS & Employee Services at Vancouver Community College. In her Director role at Langara, Karen will report to Dawn Palmer, Vice President of People Services and will have managerial responsibility over the areas of human resources  (employee services), benefits and payroll services. Karen will lead the integration of employee and payroll services, with a focus on Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) administration, employee benefits and pensions, advisory and general HR operations.  Karen will also be the key contact in People Services with respect to the implementation and maintenance of  the new ERP system. We are confident that Karen will be an excellent match for this position, and a strong asset to the People Services team, as well as to the College.
