Mar 5–9 – Open Education week

Open Education Week is a global celebration of the achievements of the open education movement taking place March 5–9, 2018. There are a number of free events taking place at Langara and other institutions during that week. Please spread the word, come and join us, and bring a colleague or three!

More Affordable and Accessible Education: You can help

Lucas Wright and Krista Lambert from BCcampus will lead a session exploring the value and benefits of open education for instructors and students. Identify how resources can be adapted for different disciplines and learn how to include and engage students in open education practices.

UnCommon Women

UnCommon Women is about amplifying the voice of women in leadership roles. Join Kelsey Merkley (Creative Commons Canada) as she interviews a panel including Gwen Bird (SFU), Kory Wilson (BCIT), Surita Jhangiani (JIBC) and Rosie Redfield (UBC). Free registration including wine and appetizers.

Open in Action

Join faculty, staff, and students at KPU Richmond Campus- Melville Centre for Dialogue to celebrate the Open Education Movement in BC. This event will include presentations from open advocates at various Institutions who will discuss their projects in detail and share how they have put open education into action. We are very pleased to welcome the BC Federation of Students to start the morning with all of us, as they will highlight the advocacy work they are engaged in from both an institutional perspective as well as governmental. The day will follow with presentations, lightning sessions, and hands-on activities.
