United Way 2017

Langara College community raises over $33,000 for United Way

Langara United Way Employee Committee members were pleased to present a cheque for
$33, 671.86 to support the United Way of Lower Mainland. Since 1991, the Langara Employee United Way Committee has raised close to $700,000 supporting the local United Way which works with over 150 agencies and 450 programs to support and advocate for those in need. The money was raised in 2017 through events, book sales, craft fairs featuring local artists, hot dog days, and more. In addition, students, employees and faculty support the campaign with donations.

Langara College also provided funding to allow Langara students to participate as Campaign Associates working with United Way employees to raise funds during the fall semester 2017.

“It was a great experience to participate on this Employee Team – they are serious about fundraising but love to have fun while doing it,”  said Stephanie Koonar, Marketing Management instructor.

The Langara College United Way Campaign is an annual workplace campaign that incorporates a range of events for students, staff and faculty to help raise funds for a great cause.
