Langara hosted the 2018 Vancouver District Science Fair on Friday, March 2. Watch the highlight video here.
This year’s theme was ‘Science in the News.’ Over 230 students representing 18 elementary and secondary schools participated. Students invest considerable hours designing and conducting their scientific investigations, which often cover a wide array of topics. Along the way they develop a more personal understanding of the scientific method and become more scientifically literate. VDSF provides students with the perfect environment in which to showcase their work and connect with other scientific minds.
Breakout sessions with Langara instructors highlighted virtual reality sidekicks, wearable technology, personalized medicine, personal genome data services, and extreme weather and natural hazards.
VDSF projects were evaluated by a team of judges that included industry professionals, graduate students, and post-secondary faculty.
Winners will compete at the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair in April.
