The impact of employee giving

A personal message from Ajay Patel

I’ve had the privilege of being a part of the Langara community for over 20 years. First as a student and graduate, and then returning in 2002 to serve the College as an instructional assistant, instructor and now as an administrator. Over this time, I’ve seen our College blossom from a small campus as part of Vancouver Community College to the leading institution that we are today. It has been quite a personal journey!

In addition to being a proud Langara alum and employee, I’ve been a donor to the College for many years. During my time at Langara, I’ve had the opportunity to meet a number of extraordinary students, and as a past recipient of financial support, I’m honoured to now provide similar assistance to help future generations reach their goals.

And I’m not alone, every day many of you, my colleagues, go above and beyond to contribute to scholarships, bursaries, and projects. In 2017, current employees, retirees, and members of our board and advisory groups helped to raise almost $135,000 to support student success and college initiatives. As a group, we have the power to change our students’ lives.

I’d like to ask each of you to consider making a gift to the college. To give you an idea of the power of the Langara community, if each employee donated just $10 per month, in one year we could raise an additional $160,000 for student success. And to demonstrate the College’s commitment to employee giving, all employee gifts will be matched until 2019 – doubling the impact of your gift. Joining our Employee Giving Community is easy, learn how.
