Celebration of Excellence 2018
Langara Financial Aid and the Langara College Foundation hosted this year’s Celebration of Excellence event on April 4th and 5th to celebrate our outstanding students, and to acknowledge the generosity of our donors.
At this year’s celebration Langara faculty, donors, and parents came together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of over 70 students from the Faculties of Arts, Science, Social Sciences and Management, and Continuing Studies.
Mary Jane Joe, Langara’s resident elder welcomed everyone with an uplifting song, followed by greetings from the College Board, the Langara College Foundation, and a heartfelt thank you from president Lane Trotter. Student speakers Lindsay Alley, from the Faculty of Arts, and Ashley Dornan, from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, ensured there wasn’t a dry eye in the place with their stories of their time at Langara, and how the awards made a difference in their lives.
Our donors’ support enables us to create pathways of success and recognize the academic excellence of our students. In 2017, the College awarded over $200,000 in scholarships to celebrate academic excellence and $500,000 in bursaries to assist students in need. Collectively, we are positively impacting the lives of our students and enriching their learning experiences.
