Community Engagement update

To strengthen Langara’s ties with the communities we serve, as part of my role as President I have been actively involved in a number of organizations.  This work is consistent with the objectives set for me by the Board of Governors, and with the goals in the Communities pillar of our Strategic Plan.

During my time at Langara I have served as the Vice Chair (2014) and Chair (2015–2017) of the Council of Presidents of BC Colleges, and played an active role with the United Way of the Lower Mainland, most recently serving as Campaign Chair in 2017 and Vice Chair in 2016.

With those leadership roles now having wrapped up, I am pleased to let you know that I have recently joined the Board of Governors of the Business Council of British Columbia (BCBC). BCBC is a non-partisan organization made up of 250 companies, post-secondary institutions, and organizations across BC, and provides public-policy research related to the province’s competitiveness and economic prosperity.  I am looking forward to working with my fellow governors to support BCBC’s mission and to expand Langara’s relationships with the business community.
