LDP – Phase 1

Leadership Development Program – Phase 1

In alignment with the College’s 2020 Strategic Plan specifically related to organizational sustainability, People Services, in collaboration with both the academic and administrative areas of the College, developed the Faculty Leadership Development Program (FLDP). This program ran from June 2017 to June 2018.

Following the success of our Faculty Leadership Development Program, People Services recently launched a Leadership Development Program (LDP) tailored to administrative and non-faculty leaders. The goal of this program is to enhance communication and create dialogue around the different leadership and management competencies required to take on leadership roles.

Phase 1 of the three-part program took place in an all-day event on Tuesday, October 30th with 80 participants in attendance! This included Registrants, Subject Matter Experts (SME), Presenters and members of the Senior Leadership Team. The event kicked off with breakfast and a portfolio overview of the Senior Leadership Team, followed by a presentation delivered by Nic Tsangarakis from Kwela Leadership, on the “Importance of Leadership.” The registrants then attended various break-out sessions in the following areas: Academic Leadership, Facilities, Finance, IT and Human Resources. The event concluded with a Q&A panel discussion with existing Leaders who provided insight into leadership within their roles.

Phase 2 of the LDP is scheduled for December 3rd through 7th from 9:00am – 10:30am. The sessions include:

  • Things that can go wrong (assessing and managing risk) in your department and the College
  • Records, Confidentiality and Managing Paper
  • Operations overview, Registrar & Enrolment Services
  • Information Technology
  • Human Resources

If you have any questions or would like to register for any of the above sessions in Phase 2, please contact Kristen Vincent at kvincent@langara.ca or 604.323.5411.

Phase 3 will be scheduled for Spring 2019. Stay tuned for more information…
