Thank VOLT volunteers on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 27

It’s Giving Tuesday next Tuesday, November 27. A global day of giving, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to give to the causes important to you, and to celebrate the act of giving and giving back.

Langara College Foundation will be participating in Giving Tuesday again this year. This Giving Tuesday, we hope you will join us to celebrate and support a program very special to Langara: VOLT. VOLT was created by two students  inspired by the idea to do more in 2010. Since then, VOLT volunteers have contributed more than 57,000 hours of service to the community, and there is no sign of the program slowing down.

It is rare to have a Langara event without seeing the orange VOLT t-shirt. VOLT volunteers welcome our new students, bring energy to semester kick-off, and are ready to help whenever we need them. Our VOLT volunteer team are important members of our campus community, and now is your chance to say thank you.

We know that VOLT creates more engaged, confident students ready to ignite change within their community. VOLT volunteers become leaders within our community. As the demands of the VOLT program increase, so does the need to train more student leaders. You can help train the next generation of VOLT leaders so that they can do more for the community, and learn valuable skills for their future careers.

Here’s how you can give back on Giving Tuesday:

• Get social on Giving Tuesday, November 27
  Visit Langara’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter accounts on Tuesday, November 27 and raise funds for VOLT with a click of a button. The Langara Students’ Union has partnered with the Foundation again this year, and will donate $1 (up to $2,500) for every like, share or comment of our Giving Tuesday posts.
• Bring a toonie to our Giving Tuesday Celebration Station outside the Hub (A140)
  Join us at the Hub on next Tuesday, November 27 from 8:00 am-3:00 pm, give a thumbs-up to our volunteers for $2 and you will also enter the draw to win.
• Donate to VOLT volunteer program
  With a small donation; you can help VOLT offer more training opportunities to their student volunteers improving their ability to help others. All online donations received before December 2 will be matched by the College (up to $5,000) – doubling the impact of your gift.
