Recap: Workday@Langara Open House

Thank you to everyone who came to the Open House for Workday@Langara, our ERP project. We had a very full house with just over 100 attendees, including faculty, staff and guests from our project partners Workday and Deloitte.

After welcoming everyone, Project Director Dorothy Paukste gave a brief overview of the project and the benefits Workday offers.

President Lane Trotter spoke about why moving to Workday was necessary for Langara’s future, the value of the cross-department conversations that have taken place through this project, and the importance of faculty and staff support.

Following Lane’s remarks, Workday’s Craig Haubrich gave a detailed demo of how Workday functions and highlighted some key features. Using the example of submitting an expense claim, he showed how intuitive the system is to use for faculty and staff. He also showed the audience some of the different things the system can do, from reporting to communications. He also previewed how Workday works on a mobile device and showed how a Langara employee could register in a Continuing Studies program through Workday Student.

The event ended with an opportunity for attendees to chat with the Langara teams who are working on the project’s four workstreams: finance, HCM (people services), student, and technical.
