Employee Giving at Langara

A personal message from 2019 Employee Giving Ambassador, Ryan Cawsey.

Last week, the Langara College Foundation officially launched the 2019 Employee Giving Appeal and I’m proud to be this year’s Employee Giving Ambassador.

I’ve had the privilege of being a part of the Langara community for over 10 years, first as an instructional assistant and now as a division chair. Over this time, I’ve seen our college undergo many changes, growing to the leading institution that it is today.

In addition to being a proud Langara employee, I’ve been a donor to the College for many years. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and teach many extraordinary students, and I’m honoured to provide financial support to help future students reach their goals.

And I’m not alone. Every day many of you go above and beyond to contribute to scholarships, bursaries, and projects. In 2018, current employees, retirees, and members of our board and advisory groups helped raise over $215,000 (after College matching) to support student success and college initiatives. As Langarans, we have the power to change our students’ lives.

I’m so proud to be part of such a giving community. As we celebrate the spirit of giving this March with Support our Students month, I encourage all Langara employees to consider making a donation to Langara.

Every gift, big or small, truly does make a difference. To give you an idea of the power of the Langara community, if each employee donated just $10 per month, in one year we could raise $175,000 for our students. The College recognizes our remarkable employee community and will match every employee gift until March 2020, doubling the impact of our donation!
