Co-op and Career Week is March 18–21, 2019!

This year the Co-op and Career Development Centre has collaborated with several departments on campus to provide four days of programming that will offer students, employers, and faculty valuable opportunities to participate, learn, and connect. Participants will also have a chance to win daily prizes and a grand prize of a $350 tuition credit.

Co-op and Career Week events will be open to all students and we encourage you to spread the word about this exciting week. Event programs can be collected from C121.

Employer partners who will be at Co-op and Career Week include Apple, Black Press Media, City of Vancouver, Careteam, Hootsuite, ICBC, Microsoft, Ministry of Advanced Education, Public Service Canada, PWC, RBC Royal Bank, RCMP, Rogers, United Way, VPD, and many more.

EVENT SCHEDULE

March 18: Human Resources and Industry Skills
Students will learn about the different hiring processes of government, corporations, not-for-profits, and co-operative businesses. Hiring mangers will share insights on how to be a successful hire, the do’s and don’ts of resume applications, best practices for presenting yourself on social media, and interviewing tips.

March 19: Business Day
Industry speakers will share current employment opportunities and insights into how education in finance, accounting, business, and marketing sectors provide key skills that will assist students on their career path.  This day also includes a Career Fair where employers will be available to speak about current employment opportunities and share tips on the skills and education necessary to work for their company.

March 20: Science Day
Physics, Chemistry, Math, Statistics, Data Analytics, and Computer Science panelists will share what a day in the life of their job is like. Panellists will discuss their career path and highlight their current position and the projects they are managing. This is an opportunity to hear from individuals in these sectors about work, life, career balance and what are the opportunities in the various industry sectors.

March 21: Project Management, Innovation, and Technology Day
Project Managers will start the day with an understanding of managing projects in the arts, technology, manufacturing, and transportation sectors.
