In memoriam – Helen Armstrong (1938 – 2019)
A Langara faculty member until fall 1999 when she took early retirement, Helen will be remembered for her work as Department Chair of the Nutrition and Food Services Management department. During her time at the College, she taught and inspired a generation of nutrition management students sharing her passion and knowledge of the food service in the healthcare sector.
Helen is remembered as a generous, compassionate, ‘glass half-full’ kind of person, who always found the good in others. Many of the graduates of the Nutrition and Food Service Management Diploma program will remember her fondly. Ever philanthropic, Helen established a scholarship for Nutrition and Food Service Management diploma program students in her name in 2012. Donations to this scholarship in her memory can be made through the Langara College Foundation.
