May 28 update: We are excited to announce that the driveway drainage project is expected to be fully complete by Wednesday, Jun 5. Thank you for your patience as we conduct these necessary upgrades.

May 23 update: On Friday, May 24, contractors will be grinding off asphalt and grading. Please note: the Ontario St. & 51st Ave access to the parkade will be closed at times throughout the day. We encourage you to use the 49th Ave entrance to access the parkade. Paving work will occur on Saturday.

May 21 update: We are on schedule for the final week of construction. Continue expecting delays at the Ontario St. & 51st Ave entrance. Please proceed with caution around construction zones.

May 15 update: The Ontario & 51st entrance will be closed tomorrow. Please use the 49th Ave & Columbia access to enter / exit the parkade.

For parking: Parking spots flanking the driveway by the Ontario St. entrance will be unavailable. All other parking, including the north parking lot and the Handy Dart Drop off remains available.

Please use Ontario St. & 51st Ave to enter/exit the parkade.

Please note: these is an estimated schedule provided by our contractors. Times may change due to the nature of their work. Thank you for your patience as we improve the safety and quality of our roads.

May 7 update: Phase 2 of the driveway drainage upgrade will commence on Saturday, May 11. Please expect periodic closures at the Ontario St. access between May 11-21 29 as we complete the necessary work to conclude this project. We highly encourage all employees who drive to reroute and use the West 49th Avenue access (entrance by T Building) during this time. We look forward to providing you with the next update.

Please note:

  • On Saturday, May 11, the 49th St. access (by T building) will be closed for the day as we complete paving the southwest corner.
  • For Ontario St. access closures, we will post a sign at the corner of 49th and Ontario to indicate whether the entrance is OPEN or CLOSED.

May 3 update : Phase 1 remains on schedule to be completed for May 6th – the first day of classes.

An update on the daily activities over the weekend is as follows:

  • Friday: Currently finishing Grading.
  • Saturday: Saw cutting, remaining grading work and demobilization of some heavy equipment.
  • Sunday: Asphalt Paving (10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.) and Line Painting (Evening / Night Works)

The parkade will remain open with a traffic control during all weekend works; expect delays in and out of the parkade on Sunday.

We would like to thank the Langara Community for their cooperation and patience over the past couple weeks as we renew the drainage infrastructure and roadworks.

Reminder: Access to campus off of 49th Avenue will be for contractors only.  Access to the parkade will be available at all times during construction during regular operating hours, however, minimizing the need for the parkade is encouraged. If you don’t need to bring your car to campus during intersession, walking, biking and transit is encouraged.
