Have you heard of QAPA?

What’s QAPA?

QAPA stands for Quality Assurance Process Audit. QAPA is a fairly new external review process that helps to ensure post-secondary institutions  regularly assess program and institutional quality. QAPA first launched as a pilot project under  the Degree Quality Assessment Board in 2016. B.C.public post-secondary institutions should plan to undergo QAPA at least once every 7 years.

A number of other institutions have already participated in QAPA including SFU, VIU, BCIT, Okanagan College, Royal Roads, UBC, UVic and VCC. Camosun, KPU, Douglas College and TRU are scheduled for QAPA in Fall 2019.

Why QAPA?

QAPA provides us  a chance to reflect on the work we are doing and plan for the future. It gives us an opportunity to highlight our successes while identifying how we can improve. It will help us continue to be the College of higher learning.

Now it’s our turn.

Langara is preparing for its first Quality Assurance Process Audit. The audit will take place in Fall 2020 and there’s lots to do before then: reviewing policies, procedures, and processes; preparing recommendations; building reports; and, most importantly, consulting with members of the Langara community. Stay tuned to the Langara Post to learn more about QAPA and what’s coming next.
