Explore the Prud’Homme Library at VPL

The Prud’Homme Library, a rare collection of fakes discovered upon Msgr. Joseph Henri Prud’homme’s death is making its way across Canada and Vancouver is up next! The exhibit, curated by Langara Instructor Dr. Heather Jessup and Dr. Claire Battershill from SFU, has arrived in Vancouver. Come explore the exhibit at the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch in the Exhibition Area and Montalbano Family Theatre from July 5 – August 21.

The exhibit features an array of objects taken from the Prud’homme Library along with their backstories. Discover mysterious works of art, a cosmonaut’s notebook, monographs of exotic birds and more in this spectacular library of fakes. The Prud’homme Library exhibit will raise questions about fakery and fiction, who writes history and what stories are included in museums.

There are a number of workshops and events taking place along with the exhibit including the Opening Reception, workshops for teens and adults, and even a concert. View all of the event details on the Prud’Homme Library website.

Learn more at www.prudhommelibrary.ca and listen to Dr. Heather Jessup and Dr. Claire Battershill speak about their project and Langara’s involvement in this short video.
