Lili Robinson Won The Fringe New Play Prize With Her Work Mx.

Studio 58 Alum at Fringe Festival

It’s Fringe Festival time again in Vancouver! The 2019 Vancouver Fringe Festival runs September 5-15 in theatres across Vancouver a host of talented alum from Langara’s Theatre Arts at Studio 58 program are showcasing their talent as actors, playwrights, directors, producers, and technical production experts.

Buy your tickets now to support the theatre community and see Studio 58’s former students and graduates at work. Studio 58 graduates are working on a great selection of shows and there’s something for everyone.

  • Amelie
    The Amelie cast includes graduates Kazz Leskard and Tessa Trach in the title role of Amelie. 2017 Production graduates Andie Lloyd takes on the role of Assistant Lighting Designer, while Emily Fraser is the Costume Designer.
  • Didn’t Hurt 
    Written by former student Rodney Decroo and directed and dramaturged by Studio 58 graduate, TJ Dawe. TJ Dawe is a prolific and long-time Fringe performer, director, and playwright. Dawe also teaches a Langara Continuing Studies course. Be sure to check out Dawe’s two other shows at this year’s festival: Operatic Panic Attack, and One Man Avengers.
  • Mx 
    Mx was written by Lili Robinson and produced by Shanae Sodhi. Lili and Shanae were founding members, and Head Facilitator and Head Coordinator of Studio 58’s Student Diversity Committee and graduated from the acting stream in 2018. Lili Robinson won the Fringe New Play Prize with her work Mx.
  • Dissection of a [Indian Aboriginal First Nation Indigenous Native Full-Blood Status Non-Status Halfbreed Métis Rez Urban] Mixed Heritage Woman
    Written and performed by former student, Nyla Carpentier. 
  • LIGHTS! CAMERA! ODD JOBS?
    Playwright Arthur MacKinnon is a graduate of Studio 58 and won the 2013 Jean and Walter Ball Memorial Scholarship (for dedication to the Theatre Arts Studio 58 Program and a strong comedic ability).
  • Career Day 
    Carol Macdonald received a diploma in theatre production from Studio 58 in 2011 and performed this play at Studio 58 for the Solo Shows. 
  • LIFT 
    Lift includes graduates from Studio 58 and other local schools.
  • Guards at the Taj 
    Stars Studio 58 graduate, Adele Noronha.
  •  The Trophy Hunt
    Features Studio 58 graduates, Michael Scholar Jr, Shelby Bushell, Ariel Slack, and Lissa Neptuno who plays Soraya in The Trophy Hunt.
