Six Division Chairs selection process initiated

To all Langara faculty members:

The process to select chairs for the following divisions are currently underway and are duly posted in the Employment Opportunities page of the College website:

1. Applied Science
2. Community Programs
3. Creative Arts and Industries
4. Humanities
5. Mathematics and Sciences
6. Nursing

Applications will be accepted until 4:30pm of the closing date, October 31^st.  The start date for all six positions is May 1^st, 2020.

If the successful applicant is a new division chair, they are normally appointed to two-year terms and would typically receive one section of release (ADT) for the January 2020 term to allow them to orient themselves to the position. Successful applicants who are incumbent in the position are normally appointed to a three-year term.

In the coming weeks, representatives of the Langara Faculty Association will be reaching out to members of these six divisions to arrange a meeting to choose a divisional representative to sit in the respective selection committees.  I encourage faculty members of these divisions to participate in these meetings.

I encourage any faculty member with a full-time regular contract with their evaluations completed who has an interest in leadership to apply.  Please note that applicants need not be members of the division for which they are applying to become its chair.
