Update: 49 Langarans

Earlier this year, we asked for your help to find inspirational Langarans within our community for a special anniversary award, 49 Langarans. After receiving almost 200 nominations, we are excited to announce our final award recipients in the first week of November.

Join us on Tuesday, November 5 from 11:30 am for a special internal preview ahead of the official celebration on November 6. Come by for cake, speeches, and to learn about our 49 Langarans. RSVP here.

Want to be part of the 49 Langarans Awards event on November 6? We are currently looking for event volunteers. A range of roles and shifts available, learn more here.

What are 49 Langarans Awards?
The 49 Langarans Awards is a special anniversary award that recognizes the contributions of inspirational people who have had an impact at Langara, in their profession, or in the community. The awards provide an opportunity to highlight the achievements and contributions of our broader community of, in particular those who have not have been recognized in the past. The final 49 recipients and nominees will be recognized, alongside Langara Emeriti and Outstanding Alumni Award recipients at a reception on November 6.

How were the 49 selected?
A selection committee of Outstanding Alumni Award recipients, Langara College Emeriti, and other key members of our community had the difficult task of choosing our final award recipients from the almost 200 nominations received. The committee was chaired by OAA recipient and Journalism alum, Simi Sara.

We are so proud of the inspirational Langarans who have helped to make Langara what it is today. We hope you will join us in celebrating their contributions and share their stories with your community. Further information on how to do this to come in future Langara Post article.

Thank you to the employees who submitted a nomination, and congratulations to our employee recipients. We can’t wait to celebrate you.
