New QAPA Initiatives
As Quality Week is upon us, the Office of Academic Assurance (AQA) announces several new initiatives.
New website
The Office of Academic Quality Assurance (AQA) has launched a new website to support you. Visit this site to access program review information and resources, as well as information about the Quality Assurance Process Audit (QAPA). As the site matures, content will grow to support the Langara Community through the quality assurance process.

QAPA Program Review Policy update
As part of our QAPA preparations, the College’s Policy F1006: Academic Program Review was recently revised. Education Council approved the revised policy on October 22.

Program Review Committee
On October 22, Education Council also approved the creation of a new standing committee: the Program Review Committee (PRC). The PRC will serve in a pilot capacity from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2021. It is responsible for ensuring that program reviews at Langara College are conducted in accordance with Policy F1006: Academic Program Review.
The PRC will recommend changes to Policy F1006: Academic Program Review and to Program Review procedures where necessary. They will also receive and vet all Self-Studies to ensure they meet the standards outlined in Policy F1006 and attendant program review documents.
The PRC will also update Education Council, the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Langara Council, and the Deans, Directors and Division Chairs (3DC) on recurring themes, priorities and key issues identified in the Self-Studies. Watch future Post articles for more information on this committee.
Annual Update Dashboard
As part of our QAPA preparations, Institutional Research has launched a QAPA Annual Update Dashboard, which is available to Tableau license-holders.
This easy-to-use dashboard provides answers to these important questions:
- What is demand like for academic programs?
- How do we handle student demand?
- How well are our students doing?
