PRM's Mad Women

Nope, this isn’t some TV drama series. And it definitely isn’t the 1960s, and men definitely aren’t the ones in charge. This fierce group of women are the advertising engine for PRM 2013. Armed with an eye for design and the fortitude for client approval chase-downs, these gals wielded their power to ensure PRM’s ads get the respect they deserve.

*A thank you to the students of Langara’s Marketing Management Program in the Marketing 1200 course for helping to sell advertising space for this year’s PRM!*

PRM Job Title: Ad Designer/Production Artist

Best thing about working on PRM? Getting praise.

Who would be your dream client to design an ad for? A bakery, because I could design something elegant/girly/pretty/fluffy/cute and that’s what I do best. Plus maybe I would get a free cupcake out of the deal.

If you were an ad, what size would you want to be and where would you want to be placed in the magazine? I would be a full-page ad on the back cover so that my face wouldn’t be smooshed inside a magazine. Also, as it is one of the more expensive ad placements, it would mean I was wealthy!

In 10 words or less, explain what your job is on PRM:Writing an e-mail every ten minutes. And designing ads.

Best thing about working on PRM?  The best thing about working on PRM is getting to work with everyone with similar interest. It’s nice to be in an environment with like-minded individuals.

Who would be your dream client to design an ad for?  Probably for some small coffee establishment. I feel like because smaller companies don’t have as big of a budget you have to get a bit inventive with your work. Sometimes you can come up with the best stuff with literally nothing……… And I like coffee.

If you were an ad, what size would you want to be and where would you want to be placed in the magazine?  If I was an ad I’d be a 1/3 page square ad because I may be small but I still can get people’s attention.

In 10 words or less, explain what your job is on PRM:  I design ads for clients that makes people want to buy their stuff or service.

Best thing about working on PRM? Getting the experience of working on a magazine and seeing all the creativity and hard work in this class being put together in an actual print magazine!

Who would be your dream client to design an ad for? I would love to design an ad for a clothing company like H&M because their ad designs are so simple yet eye-catching, and I love their clothes.

If you were an ad, what size would you want to be and where would you want to be placed in the magazine? Full page, back cover because it’s one of the ad pages that gets the most attention, and you don’t have to flip through all the pages of a magazine to see it!

In 10 words or less, explain what your job is on PRM: I design ads and whatever Amy wants me to do.

Best thing about working on PRM? Seeing all the creative talent come together and work together, and being a part of that. The experience of dealing with real world clients is an invaluable part of my education.

Who would be your dream client to design an ad for? Translink.

If you were an ad, what size would you want to be and where would you want to be placed in the magazine? The inside back page, full page, because it’s hard to miss.

In 10 words or less, explain what your job is on PRM: I make the things people love to ignore.

PRM Job Title: Ad Traffic Manager

Best thing about working on PRM? The ridiculous conversations we have in the Mac Lab when only a few people are left, I feel like this is when our true selves shine.

Who would be your dream client to design an ad for? A ski company that had my art as thier top sheet graphics! That would be so cool cuz it would mean one of my major design dreams had come true. Also I could make sure the ‘story’ of the ski was told properly through the ad design.

If you were an ad, what size would you want to be and where would you want to be placed in the magazine? I read magazines back to front. Since working on PRM the back cover ad will always remind me of charity so I would want to be the full page inside back cover; the “first” legit ad.

In 10 words or less, explain what your job is on PRM: Playing phone tag but im always it.
