National Aboriginal Day events

Join us for this year’s National Aboriginal Day events from Tuesday, June 20 to Thursday, June 22. Langara will be hosting events over three days to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

National Aboriginal Day is Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

Tuesday, June 20
10:00 am–3:00 pm: Artist Market
11:00 am–12:00 pm: Workshop #1: Medicine Pouches*
11:00 am–12:00 pm: Storytelling with Daycare (Christie Lee Charles)
12:15 pm–1:00 pm: Performance: Haudenosaunee Social Dances and Smoke Dance (Tekatsi’tsaneken Everstz)
1:30 pm–2:15 pm: Performance: Fancy Shawl / Jingle Dress – Grass Dance (Juanita Desjarlais)
2:15 pm–3:00 pm: Workshop #2: Dream Catchers*

11:30 am–12:15 pm: Welcome (representatives from Langara College and Musqueam First Nation)
12:30 pm–1:15 pm: Performance: Haudenosaunee Social Dances and Smoke Dance (Tekatsi’tsaneken Everstz)
1:30 pm–2:15 pm: Traditional Smudge (led by Elder-in-Residence Mary Jane Joe)
2:00 pm–2:45 pm: Performance: Powwow – Jingle Dress (Zunika L Cook)
