Langara raises $2,000 at United Way Plane Pull

An enthusiastic team of employees and supporters were on hand this Sunday to help Langara show our strength at the United Way of Lower Mainland’s (UWLM) third annual UPS Plane Pull.

The event was held at UPS’s headquarters at the Vancouver International Airport. Langara (along with numerous community-minded teams from Metro Vancouver) tested their teamwork and power by pulling a 130,000 lb Boeing 757 jet 50 feet to the finish line. Team Langara accomplished the task in just over 21 seconds.

This year, even with the short notice, we were able to raise nearly $1,500* towards Langara’s United Way fundraising efforts. Combined, the teams raised over $32,000 to help kids, families, and seniors in our community. Thanks to everyone that came out to support the pull. It’s amazing what we can accomplish when we work together.

A big shout-out also goes to Continuing Studies Registered Massage Therapy students who came out and offered massages for any sore muscles! The massages were extremely popular and raised an additional $504.13, making our total just over $2,000 for the UWLM.
