Dec. 1 – Faculty Dialogue on Resilience and Student Support

December 1, 2017  |  8:30 – 12:00  |  L224

What might you do when a student in front of you is showing signs of distress?
Have you implemented some successful techniques that integrate student support in the classroom? What does resilience mean for students and for ourselves? The Academic Plan Action Group is pleased to invite all faculty and instructional staff to a peer to peer conversation on resilience and strategies to integrate student and academic supports.

During the first part of the session, Merike Bruen and Samantha Beveridge, Langara Counsellors, will summarize their resilience workshop with students and provide some hands-on for participants to think about their own resilience.

During the second part of the session, participants will work with common scenarios and collaborate on how to meet common challenges faculty face with our evolving student population. Please note that scenarios will be the same ones used in the Faculty Dialogue on Student Support in April this year.
