Benefits Survey results
In September 2017 we requested that all of Langara’s employees complete an Annual Benefits Survey, which was administered by our external benefits consultants to ensure confidentiality and anonymity. This audit ensures that employees continue to receive a high level of service with respect to the benefits program. Thank you to everyone who completed this survey, we hear you!
Two items were reoccurring themes:
- Contraceptives
- Pay direct drug card
After reviewing costing for these two suggested items, it was determined contraceptives (oral and non-oral) can be included in our extended health plan as they are cost neutral to the dental rebate we received. This additional benefit is applicable to prescriptions purchased as of Sunday, April 1, 2018.
With the Pay Direct Card, the cost is $128,000 per year to start. Due to the significant increase in cost, without providing additional benefit coverage to employees and in consideration of the many methods of reimbursement currently available, the addition of the pay direct card would not be justifiable. You can submit claims by:
- Using the Pacific Blue Cross App
- Entering on-line through CARESnet
- Choosing an Insta-Claim Health provider
- Mailing a paper claim
With digital submissions, claims are usually processed within 48 hours. If you would like more information on the types of contraceptives covered, please contact PBC.
