Take the Thingery survey now

The Academic Planning Action Group (APAG) 5: Environmental, Financial and Social Sustainability is investigating the establishment of a Thingery on campus.

What is the Thingery? The Thingery is a lending library of things such as canoes, paddle boards, snowshoes, camping equipment, woodworking tools, power washers, hedge trimmers, ladders, musical instruments and whatever else the Langara community would like to borrow.

A Thingery encourages the sharing of infrequently used items and reduces excessive consumerism. Why incur the costs of ownership and storage when you can borrow a shared item at a fraction of the cost.

A Thingery is housed in a modified shipping container and is self-serve. Each Thingery operates as a non-profit cooperative. Members pay a refundable one-time membership fee, an annual fee and a nominal borrowing fee.

Four Thingeries already operate in Metro Vancouver (Grandview-Woodland, Hastings-Sunrise, Kitsilano and New Westminster).

Tell us what you think of the concept and what items you would like to see in a Thingery at Langara College.

APAG5 is gathering input and support. A link to the online survey can be found here:  http://www.thethingery.com/langara

DEADLINE EXTENDED: You have until Thursday, July 12 to share your input.

Once you complete the survey, you’ll be entered for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate!
