Mar 16 – Only Yes Means Yes consent workshop
West Coast LEAF (Women’s Legal Education and Action Fund) has a new workshop about the law of sexual assault and consent, designed in collaboration with an amazing group of post-secondary students. It offers an in-depth look at what the law says about consent and how it deals with sexual assault through a survivor-centered, social justice lens. This workshop is free to attend, but registration is required.
Friday, March 16
1:30 pm–4:00 pm
Room A253
To register, contact Mono Brown at mmbrown@langara.ca or 604.323.5511 ext.2455
The workshop will explore:
- the legal and ethical responsibility to get consent for all sexual activity
- how the law defines sexual assault and consent, including in situations where alcohol or drugs are involved
- systems and steps in the justice system, from police report to trial
- legal and non-legal options and supports available to survivors
- legal case examples where myths about sexual assault came into play, and the realities to challenge those myths
