Staffing changes
We are pleased to announce the following staffing changes within the area of People Services.
NEW TO PEOPLE SERVICES TEAM
Grace Li – Payroll/Benefits Clerk – Grace joined the People Services team on April 16, 2018, on a permanent full-time basis. Grace has more than 8 years’ experience with payroll, benefits, and payroll accounting in both unionized and non-unionized environments. She is also familiar with the public sector as her most recent position was with PLEA Community Services Society of BC. In her role as Payroll/Benefit Clerk at Langara, Grace will report to Karen Hackett, Director, HR Systems, Services and Payroll. She will be working alongside Janet Yoshida, Payroll/Benefits Clerk and together they will be responsible in running the bi-weekly pay. We believe Grace will be an excellent asset to the People Services team and the College. Please join us in welcoming Grace!
POSITION TRANSFERS
Nav Dhaliwal – Coordinator, Workplace Reintegration & Attendance Promotion (WRAP) – Nav has moved into the Coordinator, WRAP role temporarily vacated by Ashley Lee until March 29, 2019. In this position Nav will oversee leave management, accommodations, and attendance promotion for College employees. Nav joined the College in June 2016 as the Coordinator, People Services in a temporary capacity and in August 2016 she began a permanent role as Coordinator, HR Strategic Initiatives.
Kristen Vincent – Lead, HR Strategic Initiatives – Kristen has moved into the Lead, HR Strategic Initiatives role on a temporary basis until March 29, 2019. In this position she will provide support to Nav Dhaliwal and the People Services team in the area of Strategic Initiatives such as professional development, wellness offerings and communications. Kristen has been with the College since September 2013 and has held the positions of HR Services Clerk and HR Associate.
Alyssa Piperni – Human Resources Associate – Alyssa has been with the College since 2015 and in the HR Associate position she is providing support to Michelle Kuramoto’s client portfolio.
Kelvin Chan – Human Resources Associate – Kelvin has been with the College since 2012 and is currently providing support to Patricia Wong’s client portfolio.
FAREWELL
We are sad to announce that Sylvia Gara’s last day at Langara College was April 13th. Sylvia started at the College in March 2008 and has accepted an opportunity outside the College. Please join us in wishing her good luck at her new place of employment and in all her future endeavors.
