Langara College T Building

External Review of Emergency Procedures

Dear colleagues,

As the term wraps up, we’d like to provide you with further information following up from the April 1st incident on campus, and invite you to attend an emergency procedures review session.

 T-Building Remediation Update

  • The repairs on T Building are progressing on schedule which means that classrooms and labs will be available for the start of the summer semester. The second phase of remediation (offices and meeting rooms) is on track but as initially forecasted, offices that were damaged will not be available until early summer.
  • IT is assessing the extent of damage to computers, AV equipment, and photocopiers, and is re-certifying them where possible. Damaged computers will have their hard drive contents transferred onto new computers.
  • Our efforts in relocating offices for faculty remains a priority, with first priority being given to faculty who will be instructing during the summer semester.

External Review of Emergency Procedures

Langara College has engaged 3Si Risk Strategies, an independent risk assessment firm specialized in crisis response, to conduct a full incident review of the events on April 1, and the following campus-wide evacuation. The information that is gathered will help 3Si analyze the incident, and allows the College to refine and improve our emergency procedures.

You are invited to share your experience directly with 3Si at one of the following sessions. Your observations are important to us and we encourage you to attend a session. A trauma support person will be available onsite for those who require extra support. Please RSVP to only one of the following sessions below.

For those who are unable to attend a session in person, please share your thoughts on this feedback form.
