Rob Dykstra Scholarship

We are excited to announce a new scholarship to reward promising feature writers in Langara’s Journalism. The Foundation and the School of Journalism recently ran a campaign to raise funds for the Rob Dykstra Scholarship. Rob dedicated much of his professional life to teaching and taught generations of journalists during his 32-year career at Langara.

Through generous support from colleagues, former students, and news media company, BlackPress, we were able to reach our goal of $25,000 to create a scholarship to celebrate and recognize Rob’s accomplishments as an instructor, editor, and journalism professional.

Rob had a passion for long-form story-telling and feature writing and to honour this the Rob Dykstra Scholarship will be awarded to the journalism student who writes the best feature story.

Thank you to the everyone who helped us reach our goal. The first Rob Dykstra Scholarship will be awarded in spring 2018.
