Study Abroad Field Schools for 2019-2020

Colleagues –

It is that time of year when we begin our planning for Study Abroad Field Schools for 2019-2020. This opportunity allows faculty to develop incredible experiential education opportunities for students.

Please visit the Study Abroad Field School site and review the updated guidelines that clarifies the operation of study abroad field schools. A fair and equitable process of field school proposal review and selection has been created, including administrative support for the programs has been instituted. Of note is the assistance to be provided by Continuing Studies in logistics planning, as well as Finance and Administration in budget and risk management planning preparations.

In addition to the approval guidelines for these study abroad field schools, the site provides links to frequently asked questions and the template to guide your field school planning process.

For those who are interested in offering a study abroad field school in Summer 2019 or during academic year 2019-2020, please consult these online materials. If you have any questions or need advice on completing the template, please contact your academic dean, who will be more than willing to assist you in developing these unique and engaging learning opportunities. Proposals are to be submitted electronically to Jane Li (academiccontract@langara.ca) in the Academic Deans office no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, June 18, 2018.

Planning, organizing and executing life changing programs of this nature can be daunting. Hopefully, we have created a process that minimizes those challenges, ensures quality, and encourages many to consider these great teaching and learning experiences.
