Academic Announcement – Dean, Faculty of Nursing

Colleagues,

I am pleased to share with you that Dr. Charlotte Ann Syme is the successful candidate for the role of Dean, Faculty of Nursing effective August 20, 2018.

Ann brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Dean role. Ann’s career has ranged from bedside nursing to executive health care research and possesses extensive clinical experience and years of progressive senior leadership in health care systems. Ann has a MSc and PhD in Nursing. Ann is currently the Associate Dean, Nursing at BCIT and teaches at the University of Northern British Columbia.  She previously held the position of Director, HR Planning & Design and Education at Northern Health from 2015-2017, Senior Director, Palliative Institute at Covenant Health from 2012 to 2014, and was Provincial Director at the British Columbia Cancer Agency from 1998-2011.

The Dean is the senior academic leader and manager for the Faculty of Nursing and provides strategic leadership for a mix of career, university transfer, post-degree credentials and baccalaureate programs in the Faculty and promotes and supports activities that advance teaching and learning, as well as emerging scholarship and applied research activities within the area.
